Actually a "reagent rental" is very typical in hospitals to preserve cash.
Hospital get the machine free then pay a premium on the reagents used in the machine to payback the cost of the machine over a specified period.
Or like a photocopier - a counter is included on the machine and in this case the customer pays a cost per plate read or similar activity.
If these guy don't offer these "low cost" purchase options then the have no idea.
