The point is Mel, that widespread adoption of H2 requires transportation of H2 by pipeline -the most efficient method. The thermodynamic properties of pure H2 mean the current pipeline networks for Natual gas are unsuitable (diameter too large for example) and require the replication of a specific H2 network of pipes at HUGE expense.
The alternative, enabling faster adoption of H2 is to transport a mix of NG & hydrogen. This allows the existing NG pipework to be used with minimal modifications. Studies have shown that H2 as a proportion of the NG/H2 mix should be below 20% for efficient transportation of the gas via pipeline. And for the characteristics of the mixture for energy purposes.
Additionally end-users (eg, household hot water, stoves etc) can tolerate this mixture without the need for new appliances to be purchased.
And what is Hythane? A trademarked & patented mixture of H2 & NG at proportions reseached to be effective.
And a Hythane blender...for which EDE holds patents enables the creation of said H2/NG mix.....
