Whilst shorting serves its purpose, since it's inception, it is slowly but surely destroying all investment and asset classes.... and imo the effects extend well beyond. What used to be investing is now nothing more than an educated bet and this extends well beyond the stockmarket. Now, anything and everything you purchase, there's always someone on the other side of the transaction betting against you....."hedging" sounds much friendlier though doesn't it.
