That's an interesting read in that it helps explain the thinking that drove us to where we are today. The trouble is that it doesn't offer any solution going forward except that Israel needs to become powerful enough to fend off future challenges from those who will obviously disagree for one reason or another. That still leads to wars with modern weapons and all that ensues.
If we could get past the religious and maybe historical aspects perhaps Israel could have set itself up somewhere a lot friendlier. I say that tongue in cheek but it does occur to me that a slice out of one of the smaller US states might have worked out better ;-)
Chuck's post above presents another point of view which seems much more realistic for this modern age. How about the Jews integrate into society like other religions do today without forming various separatist groups that set themselves up as targets of basic human nature. (I realise your post has already answered that question).
