at $10,000 total taxable income ($7,000 cash dividend and $3,000 franking credit) you cannot use the offset for anything, hence its lost. Therefore in such an example the low income earner has been taxed at 30% when they should have been taxed at 0%.
its disgraceful.
attribution through union managed investment trusts (superfunds) allows you to work around this, while self managed can’t. It’s wrong.
