the one thing I won’t ever understand is disgruntled customers. If you buy a $5000 TV and want to repay it interest free there’s always going to a catch. You can’t get the $5000 TV and expect a portion of your available credit won’t be placed on hold. It’s not a charity. It’s not as if the merchants and splitit would ever trust the customer to not spend more credit than they currently have. What we as customers avoid is interest and it merely allows us to pay down the purchased item interest free over time rather than being hit immediately with $5000 owing on your credit card.
also many other posters have made mention how certain banks are now offering interest free on certain purchases but not all credit card companies and banks allow this. The merchants know by allowing splitit available at checkout they offer their customers another added option and there is no limitation as long as you have a Visa or MasterCard.
I would advise if interested in splitit to signup to both afterpay, zippay and zipmoney to assess the signup process and how it all works.
