I dont get it are they going to build a new sea port ? what is the total distance of transportation from finished product in the MSP to the sea port ? ilmenite is a low cost product and transportation costs are high in madagascar (due to high fuel prices) if they get 225 US$/t price of ilmenite sold yet it costs to produce a tonne some 150 US$/t and then to transport it some 100 US$/t i just dont get where are the margins....
for example syrah costs of transportation per tonne of graphite are 125 US$ (according to their 2015 feasibility study number, due to 490 km road distance from balama to the nacala port), which IMO is causing them some pain in terms of margins (total costs barely sub 500 US$/tonne yet price received is between 500 and 600).....so just imagine transporting low value ilmenite for hundreds of kilometers...
