@Retireyoung I am not sure I understand your response.  I was simply asking if any had seen or work out the ROI, is it worth me spending $100 or $500 or whatever on these smart bulbs.  What happens if the bulb blows or I get a power surge which blows them out, very expensive loss and to replace?. 

Smart bulbs will never be 100% of the market.  While selling 1.8m bulbs is a great result, in the scheme of things it is nothing.  According to my reading there are 8b light bulbs globally, so a huge potential market provided it makes sense to spend 00s of $$ buying these new smart bulbs.  Time will tell
