I have no quibble with the product being the right option for many people, and there is nothing complex about it for anybody with any basic willingness to use maths. The product will still have to overcome inertia. There may be more channels providing annuities as an option, but not as many people will have a financial planner looking after their needs as they will not bother returning the annual letter that OKs paying the financial planner some thousands of dollars from the super account. The situation will be flipped over, as currently, on balance the financial planner will be recomending the anuity product, in future the potential customer will need to seek it out.
The industry is moving to opt in, and that will impact financial product sales immensely IMO.
