In the works for years, ReRAM gained notoriety in 2008, when Hewlett-Packard observed one type of ReRAM, dubbed the memristor. For years, HP was developing a futuristic system called “The Machine,” which incorporated memristors. But after struggling with the technology, HP has moved towards a more traditional memory scheme for the system and has backed away from the memristor, analysts said.Instead, HP has teamed up with Western Digital to develop another ReRAM technology. 4DS, Adesto, Crossbar, Micron, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and others are also developing ReRAM.
