Intel has offered up to $6bn to buy Israeli InfiniBand and Ethernet networking manufacturer Mellanox, according to local reports.

Intel Plans an $11 Billion Expansion in Israel

Intel plans a $11 billion investment in a new factory in the south of Israel, Haaretz reports.

The company will put in $10 billion, with a $1 billion incentive to come from the Israeli government.

Intel has already planned a separate $5 billion expansion of a production plant there, according to Reuters.

Manufacturing[edit]

Mellanox is a fabless semiconductor company.^[28] The current generation of its chips are produced by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.^[29

My opinion/thoughts:

If Mellanox has a load of tech and good earnings and profitability but does not have a Fab, could Intel's $11B investment in Israel be to make Mellanox more than it is?
