I agree Mogga, it was Punter who alerted us (and presumably NAGs) to the fact that (according to him) PASS could be disposed of at about $25/T and I think he is right. It's untreated at certain sites and they do have EPA approval via EMP that are say 18 years old.

So these/this site have/has been allowed to dispose of PASS untreated & create acid drainage in the process as PASS oxidises & turns Acid.

Only problem with that is that these are Govt Infrastructure Projects and they have requirements of their own in their Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Those requirements clearly state that disposal must be disposed of either 1) Underwater or 2) Treated with Lime & monitored ongoing.

Now our Friend is of the belief that the EPA will ignore the EIS requirements of the MMRT & allow untreated disposal sites he is associated with to take the PASS, afterall that has happened in the past. He has a good point if you believe the EPA is corrupt and will ignore the very rules they helped to develop in the EIS.

Given the John Holland may have given the Early Works PASS Contract to such a site, he has a point. So we know what the issue is - our friend thinks the EPA will not enforce the EIS rules & we think they will. I guess we will have to see.
