I don't find it dull at all. Obviously it's lost a lot of its localised  character since the big money came in and local players thin on the ground, replaced by buy-ins from everywhere. But isn't it the same in Germany, Italy, Spain?
From what I see the crowds are still excited and huge. They can't all be rich people.
But definitely the standard & speed of  the game is way up on what I remember from a few decades.
Whether it's all had a bad effect on the lower divisions I couldn't say.
