I think I am seein this right.
They are struggling to obtain a true airborne baseline.
"It is worth noting that the FRG is capable of destroying mould"
So the problem is the test design to obtain a true airborne count? Interesting, but not concerning.
If frg can kill the mould, we can confidently infer the outcome of the airborne part.
