" All I ever said that Tesla doesn't deserve the credit for inventing the electric car "

Err, that's not what the thread or my posting was about. I said that Tesla was largely responsible for the advancement of the ev industry and actually proved that a large safe reliable practical ev could be built.

That is vastly different to saying they invented the ev.

Electric cars have been around for a very long time. Almost 180 years. They were the first cars actually so no one is saying that Tesla " invented the electric car "

Just as Apple didn't invent the smart phone. But they sure brought it to the masses and spurred on an industry that very few saw coming.

Getting back to your example of an ev that anyone can build and the ITAP BMW.  I hope you're joking about that one. what.png While those guys did a great job, you can't seriously think that their car competes with a Tesla or any of the other mainstream evs. Saftey, reliability, warranty, performance etc.

Thse guys are about proving the value of recycling ev parts. As they claim, they built an ev out of junk. It's hardly sensible to compare their car to a Tesla, a Bolt, an Ipace or a Leaf.

Here's a picture of the interior of the ITAP BMW.

As to your claim of driving 1400ks as a suitable range. That's just a little bit stupid, isn't it ? Who drives 1400km per day in a car ? Yes, it can be done but seeing as the average ICE car can't do it nor does the average driver need to, it is a totally irrelevant argument in this context.
