Fruit that contains sugar (fructose) causes an insulin response which we want to avoid. If it is fermented I guess there is less sugar, which is good, and more alcohol which is metabolised differently (no insulin response but damages the liver so not ideal). Some fruits like avocados that don't have sugar are fine. By the way bananas are quite low in potassium compared to meat and green vegetables, despite what the growers say, and way high in sugar. Sugar is extremely addictive, like cigarettes. But once you give it up for a while the cravings stop. Sugary fruits make you fat. It is a clever evolutionary trick of fruit to contain sugar entice animals to eat them, and defecate the seeds. In the past humans only ate fruit when it was in season maybe for a few weeks per year, but now fruits are available all year round.
