Nuclear vs renewables, page-26

How come we are only talking about how many houses in Australia I am more interested how much power Industry uses in Australia. Yes cheap reliable electricity that keep people employed. I was employed by a foundry a 3.5 years ago until they decided to build a new one in China over 100 people lost there jobs, one of the factors for closure was cost of electricity.
I have nothing against Solar I have had a Solarhart for years i live in an apartment and not able to get a subsidy for panels. But what gripes me is when some of these jet setting loonies talk about renewables without factoring in how does industry compete on the global level when every other country has nuclear or still using cheap coal. Do people realise we still have smelters,refineries, mines. manufacturing etc in Australia that requires cheap electricity.
Also I am not getting how producing huge batteries for houses is going to be good for the environment more waste produced.
I am fully behind building nuclear power plants.
