If looking at just the worlds 4th largest economy, Germany @ 4.2 trillion USD. they are on track to miss all emission targets 2020/30/40.
How will they maintain their place as worlds largest car exporter,while reducing emissions? ( and soon to be carbon emission free EV’s).
Yes there can be energy efficiencies but that’s not enough, they can try nuclear ( like France, virtually carbon neutral) but they don’t have enough time. Their only saviour is renewable energy, and storage is an integral component of that to allow stand alone power and also to enable the grid to operate safely.
And the only way is with large scale grid battery systems .With the critical value of VRFB’s able to be easily upscaled and simultaneous charge and discharge abilities.
