Good Morning all
Speaking of Samsung..... last night :
“Tech shares also fell after The Financial Times reported Chinese authorities have alleged "massive evidence" of antitrust violations by Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron Technology. The report also said China would deepen its investigation into the three companies, which are the largest memory-chip manufacturers in the world.”
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/19/sto...pen-amid-mixed-signals-over-global-trade.html
It notes the Dow crashed again last night as well. In fact cited as a reason.
Let’s (as a givernment ) ask it to tender for lots of Australian infrastructure contracts and valise our eyes to uts last record .
Particukarky with respect to NRW https://www.investsmart.com.au/investment-news/nrw-holdings-gift-to-shareholders/139840
NB this is why NRW said it woukd be EXTREMELY cautious about working with any ‘faceless’ foreign-based entities ever again.
This is why it passed the buck on Adani - even though asked to tender
(And look what happened to Downer which went in like a sacrificial lamb.. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12...ices-company-down-carmichael-mine-qld/9267778
“On Monday, Adani released a statement revealing both parties had cancelled a conditional $2.6 billion contract as part of Adani's cost-cutting drive spurred on by the Queensland Government's veto of its $1 billion Commonwealth loan bid.”
...and what happened to Downer’s mining arm after that ?
See earlier posts. It was rolled into the engineering division and Downer is working with Deutsche bank to try to sell it off.
So what does this mean for NRW? - This boom where clearly the government is trying to magic up four gazillion billion dollars worth of work out of two gazillion billion dollars and where international contractors are a dime a dozen ( and everyone is charging a dime a dozen?)
And yes, it does bring to mind the story of the ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ complete with a whole set of international tailors.
1) I feel NRW is initially moated by virtue of an experience with Samsung that would have killed a lesser company..)
2) Further moated by watching what is playing out elsewhere from a long way further back than my eyes were seeing it.
3) Further moated by strong alliances with private infrastructure companies run by human beings who respect and support the human beings at NRW .
4) Further moated by preferring to walk away from contracts than scalp itself.
5) Further moated by building a cash position and looking for long term contracts .
6) Our management has incredible vision. The company is Further moated by all the things I gaven’t even thought of !
