I used to work in heavy industry as a senior process engineer with German equipment (KHD, FLSchmidt, Thyssen Krupp, Krupp Polysius) and fully back the quality, reliability as well as their knowledge and understanding of their equipment.

All this occurring in a state where power needs to be stored, and Sanjiv Gupta has bought out the Whyalla Steelworks, openly stating his goal to have the company running on full sustainable energy in 3 years, with 14D offering a technology based upon proven techniques and using proven equipment that works, with 14D filling the small-medium industrial scale application.
Recovering heat from process and reusing it to save energy minimises the losses that occur with conversion to allow it's storage. The latent heat option is an efficient way to store and release it.
The companies above all produce kilns that run at 2200°C - storing silicon at 1400° shouldn't be an issue with minimal heat loss.
Europe has also mandated energy storage systems be introduced in the coming 10 years.
I'm holding about 20000 shares - bought about 6 weeks ago. I can see success in the concept (or else I wouldn't have bought,) but teething hiccoughs always occur.
The 1414D model is an innovation, not an invention, based around commonsense application of prior technology that should be easy enough to commission. They've got a competent engineering team in charge of commissioning.
I have some minor concerns with the business model once fully commercialised, but am waiting to see the success that I know will occur first.
So, ... just waiting and wondering why the price keeps dropping - news will come soon enough - the rise in share price won't come from chart analysis, but from good news on the pilot plant.
Be keen to see where you got the current efficiencies you quote from, Anndy. They seem low but for a first run, things can only go up.
