Hi @MADX
Sorry for missing your initial post and my late response.
I am not really a tech savvy guy, so I do not have anything of substance to add on Veritone's aiWare platform and whether or not it is complementary to Miya. This is something that perhaps Malcolm of Alcidion would be able to answer.
My personal thoughts on the potential of Singapore and Raffles Medical Group really centered on the following:
Protection of IP
At the end of the day, Alcidion's strategic direction is really centered on its IP (AI and etc). If Alcidion is looking to establish new markets in the Asia region, my preference would be somewhere where there is an existing FTA with Australia, good IP protection and robust legal system in the event that legal recourse is required. Singapore ticks all three boxes.
Why Singapore is suitable as a gateway to Southeast Asia's digital healthcare market
In my opinion, Singapore has the following features
- ageing population and associated challenges on its current healthcare system (refer link)
- a strategic goal of trying to market itself as a regional medical hub (refer link)
- technological savvy and advanced market, open to the adoption of new technology
- stable regulatory system and governance
At the end of the day, Alcidion is still a small company with limited cash reserve. We are also currently not generating huge operating surpluses. In that respect, I feel Singapore is a suitable launching pad into the asian markets (refer link).
Whilst there might be more potentially lucrative markets, the risks outweigh the benefits. In the rules of the game suddenly changes and we have no legal recourse, it could potentially have dire consequences for Alcidion.
Raffles Medical Group
Alcidion has talked about establishing partnerships in the Asian region. Raffles Medical Group has the necessary political connections and financial firepower. In many asian countries, things still depend on 'relationships'. With a footprint of 13 hospitals across asia, I believe they have the necessary networks and relationships that Alcidion can tap into.
If things go well in any of those 13 hospitals scattered across asia, it would also inform evidence-based decision-making via reference sites in those respective countries and assist with the marketing of Alcidion.
