ABC News parrots US propaganda. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute takes instructions from the US.

"Beijing, which views the region as an incubator of terrorism, has responded by reinforcing local security forces, expanding the network of police stations and checkpoints, and supercharging its electronic surveillance network."

So China is taking steps to reduce the possibility of subversion from within, which they are entitled to do. The Chinese are getting ahead of the curve, unlike some other countries which are clearly behind.

"“What we’re seeing here is a breach of human rights that is of such a scale that we haven’t seen since the post Tiananmen Square crackdown in China,” said Fergus Ryan, an analyst and China expert at ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre."

Hypocrisy. The US, allies, and proxies have murdered millions in the middle east.

Now they're hinting that the next avenue of attack on China will concern it's human rights record, ably supported by the mainstream media of course.

"“By detaining such a huge amount of people for no legal reason China is really running the risk of radicalising these people and creating the perfect conditions for violent extremism to happen in the future,” warns Mr Ryan."

Perhaps western powers are complaining because China is heading off possible plans to infiltrate the Chinese Muslim population.

For example, ISIS didn't just appear out of nowhere. It was created by the west and allies to destabilise countries in the middle east. It could also work in China.
