Trouble with that is the Chinese control the RE production. Sure you have the oddball like Lynas who were silly enough to built their own processing plant to try and compete with Chinese RE processors but lost billions in the process , none of which the long term investors are likely to ever see back, they struggled to turn a profit even with a fairly new plant and no tax paid to Malaysia and still have to sort out their radioactive waste issue. Then there is the matter of the review committee and having their license to operate renewed which could go either way depending on the committee's findings.In contrast to that by selling the REC to China NTU doesn't have to deal with all the bs that Lynas had to do , spend billions on a processing plant or worry about the disposal of any radioactive waste. If its good enough for iron ore and other minerals then why not RE ?
