Flat lying ore bodies can generally be defined as those having an angle of repose of less than 35 degrees or so. Broken rock in a stope will not rill (flow) naturally unless the floor of the stope is greater than circa 32 degrees - less than this requires mechanical measures to move it to the draw point.
