I haven't made any of this up.  I rang my son, who's qualified, for the information I've posted.  Don't think he made up the answers just to get you offside somehow.  You're not an electrician, you're a builder, big difference.

6V at 1AMP = 6W 

Length of cable 20m - cross section of cable 1mm2 - Voltage drop .68V

This is a little more than negligible.  Same figures over 50m - voltage drop 1.7V.

Watts remain the same.

Once again, my motive here is not to create argument and bait.  I've purchased a stock I wish I hadn't of and I've come onto this board to discuss my reservations.  Unfortunately, the maturity level displayed on here by certain individuals is disappointing.
