Honestly - be very nice to meet you - and put faces to a few other shareholders. Probably bit shy of a crowd though also. Maybe just some diehards, & hopefully we will have many more come aboard .
But— great romantic notion aside- I cant see a bunch of tourists ,. shareholders or otherwise - being welcome , or that it is possible to encroach into these peoples space at a working site ! It will be the wet season also soon .
San Jorge Is. is a remote location - no one even lives right where is going to be mined.
Many workers will be coming over to there , from various villages, and villagers from Isabel I think.
There are no public ferries straight to there.
Nil facilities !
I think anyone else be irrelevant and more than a nuisance, liability even to think about managing , compared to the people there .
It’s been over 50 years to get to this point !
Operations on site - to me - realise when open eyes , that got to respect . My sons work for mine and large industry - there’s no way can just go and see what is happening . Only employees - official visitors - organised , with good reason. They don’t have time at location . Even on a farm . My kids have never been able visit me at work much in over 30 years , and no one I know has much ability ever cope with people visiting them at work, kids included - and that’s in an organised , busy workplace in Oz .
Visitors - just never understand , it’s so busy, unless you’re going to be able to help in some way and are welcome — the workers are enough to manage .
Everyone’s privacy also , security of site , people concentrating on getting the job done & full attention required.
At work site- the main people have done so much , to achieve everything to that point . Be their moment , we are just facilitating there by our perseverance in shareholdings .
Anyway the most responsible, main people themselves often barely get to enjoy anything right then and there- they certainly will deserve to not be distracted or performing for anyone not involved .
Then they’ve got get onto the next job to do , getting all safely away , or something can start to spill or overload if not watching carefully - plus watching the weather likely too .
Not generally a crowd event . And even if was- surely the Solomon Islands itself reason to feel happy to see exports finally occuring again .
Hope the guys there at the time , don’t have their eyeballs hanging out too much from going so hard to get to the point of shipping, and huge planning before , every stage . They’ll be dirty and grubby from all the work and watching unloading carefully -till all is away.
Just my thoughts - time for celebration for all definitely , but right there & then , bit of an idealistic notion . Someone might take some pictures perhaps
We just want them to Go for it !
I’d like to go over to the SI sometime - but I’d give them quite awhile first . No expectation be able go see Isabel at site . Don’t envisage rocking over too soon .
Things are barely set up for random visitors into the country itself , that the idea of ringins - be the last extra responsibility anyone involved would want . I would think
Please take care of you - thoughts and all best wishes to you ongoing , you’ve certainly been denied enjoying these years ahead with your lovely wife . Condolences again , for your tremendous loss of her .
