Russian plane shot down in Syria, page-10

A pertinent question is whether the Coalition fire precision cruise missiles on their target and forget about them (ie no in-flight defence) and operate on a 1 in 3 success rate or whether they deploy aircraft to protect them. Fire and forget is the normal operation from what I have read. But there were Israeli jets in the area at the time, so the question is whether they were launching AA missiles at Russian SAM's? It is possible, but seems unlikely given the dangers present and cost/risk analysis.
