There were electric vehicles before the internal combustion engine in the 19th C
In the 1960s there were electric garbage & milk trucks in my city.
Tesla's technology is mostly in batteries & control systems of which it shares some control systems with petrol & diesel vehicles.
The styling is nothing new either; a mis of Austin Martin, Jaguar & the top end Italian sports cars.
The big issue here is the cost of production, market acceptability (volume) and the economic viability of Tesla and at present it is struggling on all fronts.
IMO, the Chinese will own it within a year for a song and then pump them out sub $50K USD in volume.
