They sell for $20 each. If I had an iphone and really loved playing with technology and l had the flu, I'm would buy a test. But personally I dont even go to the doctor when I have the flu. I stay in bed until its over.
I would think some private/exclusive type hospitals will use it. $20 for a quick confirmation that the patient has the flu. Could work.
How many culd Ellume sell in the US this coming winter(our summer) ? Who could really know in reality. A very small percentage of total cases from last year ? I dont know these numbers. So I googled.

Exactly! Also as you indicate, most people aren't likely to buy a kit/app for themselves, a doctor's practice maybe. Or an airline wanting to test people before boarding a plane. As flu can become serious in a pandemic. But this is at the margins. How many kits do they need? You can perform multiple tests with the one kit/app. So the economics aren't there..
I've said many times the regulatory barriers to adoption on diagnostic testing weren't looked at in a serious way. They applied across the board, which is why the low adoption. Cost vs benefits. Nobody cared.
(Not even dare I say, it, Diasource were interested in the final analysis).
But what amazes me is the hllarity re $1 per test. I mean, it seems like a reasonable question and moreover
why emphasise POC if they haven't quantified the likely revenue as sound? Surely this is basic financial planning and governance.
I really want to believe this isn't a vanity project, but the coyness or brazen disregard about fiscal realities is sobering. God help us if batteries doesn't take off. I still think it could but this mob doesn't fill me with confidence they will necessarily spend it wisely if they are in love with diagnostics science applications with no serious commercial revenue..
