Hard to know, who knows what with this company.

So each to their own with DES. I’m in DES because I want exposure to the digital world. I like DES philosophy of creating online communities which is based on certain demographics and around certain genres of content. Niche is good, quality not quantity, leave that to the big boys aka MySpace. Online communities are destined to be the holy grail of the ad mans target market. Online ads will one day command a premium to all others, in 2000 internet ad spend was 30 odd million it’s now over a billion. DES has an internet advertising arm that’s performing strongly and with a long way to run. Branded content makes sense to me, the Soul Planet X Games, or the King Gee “Jack of all trades” could end up with huge audiences.
And DES is gathering content, like MAGNA, a traditional business generating the money, essential to survive while digital builds momentum. However tradition businesses must look to change or fail as things “morph” to the digital age. I’m backing DES to manage this change. DES has grown through acquisition (some of which probably presented themselves a little too quickly) and thus pretty hard to read too much into the figures when doing comparisons to pcp,s. However its ticking my boxes for growth. Now it’s going to take a breather, consolidation, rental, staffing, printing, distribution low margin business etc all get a makeover.

And perhaps a focus on “monetise” as so often quoted by DES.

Hey Dominic, why not instead of giving a “tip sheet” 30K for a report, give it to the best short film or music clip entered on “niceshorts.com.au” maybe throw in a recording contact with Sony? I know broadband infrastructure is an issue, but hey, make it an annual event. Perhaps its time to build from the inside.

This is all of course imo, DES is making enough to convince me they will be here for a while yet but for those interested may I suggest you spend a day perusing the DESTRA web site and all it leads to, its very good and updated regularly.

Then you can make your own choice because its pretty hard to rely on anything else.

    Cheers

    Oscar
