There are some great points raised in that article, It is clear with the changes China has made to steel/construction standards whilst also being forced to remove certain sources of vanadium supply (environmental reasons), there looks to be a bit of a perfect storm for those with exposure to the vanadium price.

I read another article today that made note of cars and vehicles requiring vanadium, especially EV's. This isn't in the batteries themselves but the metal chassis and framework as the addition of vanadium increases the strength of the metal and allows less metal/steel to be used, having the positive effect of lowering overall weight. EV cars in particular are relatively heavy and lowering the weight obviously improves performance allowing for less battery needed to be used or allowing more to be added to increase range.

Whilst I'm very positive on the outlook for vanadium flow batteries for larger scale operations, they are still a while off gaining serious prominence and market uptake. This is something that may further increase demand of the metal and make this a very substantial period of high prices for the metal.

Interesting that China changing standards is one of the major catalysts behind this currently, what happens when other developing countries need to modernise, grow and expand? They may need to make these types of changes also (eg India), what happens when places such as South America and Africa begin to rapidly grow and expand over coming decades? They will probably require plenty of vanadium to help 'support' their growth (pardon the pun).
