But JOSH, it appears that Chinese companies are moving to dominate the out-of-China battery markets as well.
CATL is leading the charge with its recently announced decision to build a battery plant in Germany and its $1.16 Billion dollar deal to supply batteries to BMW.

It also appears that CATL may have pushed SKI aside as the major provider of batteries to Daimler-Mercedes - certainly in China and perhaps elsewhere - as confirmed in this recent report:
