Two parties agreed on a price and a transaction took place, very similar to what you and I do on the open market, there is nothing under the table about it. While it would be nice for someone to come along and buy 8m on the open market, I'm sure you would agree that it would be equally unpleasant if the other party dropped their 8m on the sell side. If both of these transactions took place on the open market where would that put the price? Exactly where it is now. The downside is that a 3rd party didn't have the opportunity to buy some them self. The upside is no wild swing down then back to where we are, and for the people involved they likely paid less commissions on their trade.
