There are 4 dams on the Aripuana river , I could not find out if they were upstream of the Transamazonica highway or if there were locks at the dams to allow ship navigation . The river to the East of Apua called Tapajos has a dam near Itaituba .
My point previously was it is good to keep an open mind to possible process options with possibly looking at sending out a concentrate rather that straight ore if it was economically and environmentally achievable the Amazon is a high rain fall area which makes tailing storage problematic , however that situation also exists in other high rainfall countries that mine and problems can be mitigated by mixing the tailings with cement or by neutralising the acidity in the tailings , or by more benign processing
