Auto I think you may be correct, however, I think the shareholders believe its a distraction to running a successful expanding mining company. Using shareholders funds to fund a property venture, which otherwise couldn't get funding from traditional sources, is where I think shareholders are coming from.
Where does it stop? Do we start to build a brewery, as we know people like to drink beer?
What is the boards mandate re business development? Do shareholders have a say. Who owns the company?
