As a matter of fact I have....thanks for asking.
My point is most farmers have no clue what their paddocks actually require.
I find it mildly amusing that farmers would spend $$$$$ on something their soil may not require or in some cases gets trapped in the soil and can't be released to the plant, in the amounts its being applied at. In my experience their answer is if its not working as well as it should put more on .......that will fix it...lol.
The big fertiliser companies love farmers......just keep doing it the same old way forever is their motto.
I fully understand paddocks can be big.......but doing a test in the middle of a heavy patch of ground and one in some poor ground would at least give you a clue.
Would you not want to save yourself money on fertiliser if you could?
It may be the case you need to put more on......
We went through this whole carry on in the grape industry with irrigation 10 years ago. Now most serious growers have moisture probes so they water what is required.......some have saved mega $$$ by actually knowing what is happening.
Soil health is becoming a big thing.......bio dynamics is used by some very big wineries, some are organic as well.
I personally don't buy in to the whole organic- bio dynamic thing fully....but I do believe there are some benefits. DB
