There is a fair amount of evidence that homosexuality is genetic in origin, not necessarily in the inherited sense, but in that the condition is determined in the womb. It used to be considered a mental disease - that attitude disappeared with decriminalisation and PCness. I’m not sure that pretending it is normal was a good move. There is much less stigma attached to mental disease now. It is clearly not normal (even though it is natural), but neither are autism, Down’s syndrome, schizophrenia or paranoia normal.

Likewise with paedophilia. An abnormal obsessive sexual attraction to children. Definitely a mental condition.

So you have two mental conditions, both involving sexuality, but because of the PC issue anyone researching a connection will have to be well under the radar. During the gay marriage debate, I found a couple of articles on low key conferences (one was in a remote Canadian town deliberately chosen because there would be no media attention there) discussing the issue of the causes of homosexuality - can’t find them now. I imagine any discussion linking the two would be well buried.

So all we are left with are observations such as you’ve made. Which are important ones to consider if you have children. Sons in particular.

I know someone who spent a couple of years working with paedophiles to rehabilitate them. He finally gave up in disgust. None of them were interested. They attended the programme purely to give the impression of repentance in return for some freedoms, but all they were working on was how to get the next victim. He switched to drug addicts, where success is possible because most want to give up.
