Yep, large companies are run by idiots because it is not their money. BHP and RIO done exactly that with Alcan, Riverdale Mining, several oil acquisitions. They paid crazy price and than several billions of write down. Riverdale mining's asset now worthless. Rio Tinto is making money only because Lang Hancock's discovery. Almost all their acquisitions are over-priced. Same with OZL. FMG is different because Andrew Forrest owns large holding and he won't over pay assets.
Yes, IMHO it is very likely STO will pay top dollar for assets at top of market.... with debt.
Same with big banks. If it is not their money, they don't care.
