I must admit, I am not a big advocate of gap theory but it is surprising how often they do get filled on a chart.
What goes up with a bang or goes down with a crash often has a weak foundation for that change and that foundation is usually tested and properly filled with buy or sell support. It seems to be more of a fulfilment of the psychology behind break up's and down's
