I would think the Alinta proposal will be attractive. They are even talking about paying AGL for all the expected power generation between now and 2022 when AGL have proposed to close it ( from Alinta CEO on ABC radio) and this is on top of what they pay for the plant. Now i envisage it will require substantial investment to allow the plant to continue through 2029 like the government has asked for.
My question is was there a way that AGL were incorporating some of their existing Liddell infrastructure into their change in focus to greener energy or is the plant superfluous to their future needs?
And what discounts will be factored in to take account that Alinta may have a large capital spend to upgrade the plant to keep it working?
I dont see this interest as a negative if AGL can come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Happy to continue to hold.
