Just going through the top 20 shareholders in last year’s annual report. It appears there was another holder who had a very similar number of shares to the amount that was offloaded yesterday.
Stichting Lichfield had 13.25M shares at 30 September 2017. Yesterday’s block trade was for 13.23M.
This raises a strong possibility that yesterday’s block trade was not a resale of Macquarie’s stake but a separate sale altogether.
I can’t fully ascertain who Stichting Lichfield is from a brief google but it appears to be a Dutch based private investor.
The lack of change of substantial holder notice makes this even more confusing. If two large sales came through in a short period of time to me it would suggest that those sellers have been approached by a buyer and not the other way around.
Anyway, I guess we will remain in the dark about this.
