summary:
Auris Minerals looks set for what could be a bitter boardroom showdown after a group of heavy-hitting shareholders moved against the two female members of the explorer’s board.
Private companies associated with Sydney-based Metals X chairman Peter “Talky” Newton representing 5.72 per cent of Auris’ stock yesterday lodged a 249D notice seeking to remove chairwoman Bronwyn Barnes and Elizabeth Vearncombe as directors.
The group wants to replace them with Westar Capital boss Neville Bassett and Orinoco Gold chairman Brian Thomas.
It is understood the dissident shareholders have held stock in Auris since it was led by Miles Kennedy under the name RNI.
The only other director of Auris, Rob Martin, is understood to support the changes.
But the shake-up looks set to be challenged by another significant shareholder in Perth dealmaker and Eastern Goldfields boss Michael Fotios, who an ASX notice showed yesterday had lifted his stake in the company from 7.22 per cent to 9.71 per cent.
