From memory the crash in price from $1.80 to around 0.40c was more due to poor quality control and the Vietnam failure. Prices were all ramped up because of the huge Vietnamee opportunity.
Vmoto had retail stores in Brisbane (Teneriffe) and maybe also Perth (?). They closed down because of the poor reputation of the product, which in those days was two stroke petrol powered scooters.
It was around then that the angry big investors mounted their failed coup. In hindsight, I wonder if they could have done any worse than the incumbents. We will never know.

Since then we have had two big capital raisings, each one decimating share holder value and with little to show for it today besides a half empty factory.

Over the years, we have seen several serious attempts at breaking into the European market and the commercial delivery scooter market all with limited immediate success but with never with any sustained and large orders.. So then management gave up and looked inwards at the local scene and did the much lauded deal with Power Eagle. And now they are back to tackling the European market again. If nothing else they are a nimble and agile company.

Electric scooters are viable in China because in large cities, 2 stroke petrol scooters are actively discouraged. Until this happens through legislation in Europe or here, the limited range and long recharge times of any electric vehicle, not just scooters, makes people think twice about buying one.

I used to spend a lot of time in Shanghai and Beijing, it had been a hobby of mine to go scooter spotting. In 3 years, I had only ever seen two Vmoto scooters (I happened to know the owner of both personally) while there have been literally millions of every other weird and amusingly named Chinese brands.

Vmoto does make a good product now. I'd buy one here if they bothered to import them. The best we can hope for is legislation which makes all electric vehicles worth owning despite the drawbacks of their limited range and long "refuel" times. Until this happens, they are destined to remain a niche manufacturer in a very tiny niche market. To my knowledge, Zero and Fonzarelli are the only two wheeled electric vehicles in Australia. I've never seen either on the road and I'm a keen biker.

Not yours is this Gotta ?... https://www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/...Type=[Private used bikes]))&pso=0&pss=Premium

Anyhow, that was my 0.20 pre-consolidation cents worth ....  not worth much these days hey.

Like everyone here, I too sit with fingers crossed hoping that Charles will one day pull the rabbit out of the hat so I can buy me a new BMW R1200GSA. Stuff of dreams, but not much else here until governments legislate in favor for electric vehicles.
