"AUSTRALIAN  Dairy Farms Group will spend $50 million at Camperdown to build a new processing plant.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange last week, the vertically integrated dairy company said it would settle a 4.2 hectare parcel of industrial zoned land at Camperdown tomorrow.
Australian Dairy Farms Group bought Camperdown Dairy Company in April last year with its products including Jersey and free-range milk, and yoghurt and butter produced at the original Camperdown Cheese and Butter Factory.
Its new site would be known as “Camperdown Dairy Park” with “multiple segregated milk silos to ensure milk origin and can be traced back to the production farm and specialised milk such as Jersey, Free Range, Organic, Goat and Biodynamic can be managed”. The site will also include UHT capability as well as “specialised powder drying facilities” and processing facilities for other products.
The project is expected to take two-to-three years with “the first version” of a business plan, to include more detailed estimates of capital costs, at the end of February.
ADFG has four dairies over six sites and produces 15.8 million litres of milk a year".
