Nowadays, no matter what anyone tries to do, someone will immediately try to stop them. Nice to know that Hibbertia fumana isn't extinct after all, but it shouldn't stop the project. Actually, the project should be thanked (fat chance!) by those who care about biodiversity, because without the project it is unlikely that the plant would have been found, and it could well have continued to decline to real extinction. [From here on, I drift a bit further OT, so stop reading if you like ...] Now the plant can be actively preserved. Yes, that can be done - for example, there are Wollemi Pines all over the place now, including the UK (http://www.wollemipine.co.uk/), because propagation has been used as a very sensible path to preservation. [We have a stock of their Elms, they have a stock of our Wollemi Pines. It's a good equation.]. I seriously doubt that Hibbertia fumana will be any more difficult to propagate. Of course, some people will care much more about stopping the project than preserving a plant, and it sickens me that some of them will likely have no qualms about exploiting the plant for their own destructive ends.
