doesn't matter it used to pay for properties or plants or software or employ more people you still need to do it as an ongoing concern of running the business, that why cash flow statement is critical in any analysis it shows if the company generate enough cash for all that activities.

if it doesn't pay for properties how it going to house its stores? you can rent or you can buy the properties
you still need it to do either to run the business and it reflects in the cash flow statement.

Don't you ask why despite all the record headline profit they dropped dividend? is that because they don't have the cash as shown in the cash flow statement?
