A bit later on after writing that post I noticed my lips were dry and I didn't have chapstick so I went to Priceline to pick some up.
While in the store I noticed how much shelf space is allotted to cosmetics. Heaps.
Within each cosmetics section there were multiple women scanning their options. Something else caught my eye that I think may be important to consider: women like to use the mirrors and dabs bits of makeup on their skin to test the colour - something you can only do in person and adds to the overall experience.
As I left the store I realised that the majority of the shoppers were actually in the cosmetics aisles.
I don't have data to help quantify the significance of this observation but it appears Priceline is about more than just toothpaste, shampoo and bandaides.
