Did a number of wilderness treks on my own as a younger man.
Long periods alone in very challenging situations. Nearly came unstuck a couple of times.
It's very hard to put into words the way that this changes ones perception.
I kind of get why a monk might take a vow of silence for a time.
It's a way of harnessing that inner voice also that endlessly chatters away.
They were some of the happiest moments of my life and as I age they are the moments I dream about the most.
