Batteries now make gas and coal obsolete having provided the means to smooth renewable power delivery and in a far more efficient manner than fossil fuel power generation ever could.
The fact that new wind and new solar are now cheaper than new gas or new coal means anyone still invested in coal, gas or oil has missed the boat.
