The change to Low emission technologies is now unstoppable because of the OVERALL economics supporting the change despite what is likely to be historically low oil prices into the future. Normal supply /demand laws will apply.
There are MANY other reasons why people would choose alternatives to oil. For example, EV's have (10) x less moving parts in the motors than combustion engines and will be significantly cheaper to buy and maintain , aside from being able to fill up the tank for free. It won't take long to cover the cost of replacement batteries when needed. The revolution is starting and unit costs for EV's will be comparable to avg car costs within 2 -3 years and much much cheaper within 5-10 years through efficiencies of scale of production. Countries like China will continue to subsidize this change so they can actually breath.
Ever increasing electricity prices will push people to personal battery banks, and as we are seeing energy suppliers will also inevitably move to battery storage. It is already making economic sense over and above the obvious environmental necessity.
The politicians of the 'right' in this country and people like Trump can stick their heads in the sand, but the revolution will continue despite them trying to hold it back.
